Ps3 software update error

No updates are going on that time. As you said, I inserted the hard drive without turning off the PS3, but nothing had happened. After sometime, I restarted my ps3 without removing the hard drive.
Had this error also. I let it restart on its own a few times but still get the error. So I held the power button down till beep PS3 shuts off , unplug the power cord from socket for a few minutes min should be good , plug it back in to socket, press the power button, update install should start up again.

Score I have this problem too, would replacing the hard drive solve it. HOW i reset muy PS3 from code f1f9. When I restart it it keeps giving me a code thing. Replacing the CMOS battery fixed mine. Thanks for the advice! Chosen Solution.

ElGris , Feb 12, Here's an update of sorts, I tried cleaning the drive socket contacts, and the ribbon cable, no changes. I also tried installing OFW 4. Going to try installing HFW 4. Louay , Feb 13, Xenon , Feb 13, Xenon installing different BDs on another PS3 should let it update.
That's not the problem here, the problem is in the mobo I believe. So you should see if something is burned on the socket area of the mobo. Test if the fuse is good, if some IC controller is burned, or has a little hole in the middle, etc.
You can check continuity on the socket to see if one of the pin is unsoldered or broken too, but that would be rare.
ElGris , Feb 13, Yugonibblit likes this. I was responding at what the OP said about this. He said he already tested a known working BD, so the problem isn't the drive, it's the mobo. He could try a third BD to make sure, but if the BD is "alive", then he has a problem in the socket of the mobo, or in the IC that controls the data between the BD and the mobo itself, simple as that.
